Mechanical Engineer

You will be working as part of the HVAC team designing the areas of the HVAC systems and or support utilities used to support the treatment and vitrification processes. You will be preparing technical reports, studies, procurement documentation, and design documentation, performing calculations using engineering software, and supporting systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Participate in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
- Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
- Provide technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- Professional Engineers license (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
- Experience in producing HVAC Load Calculations, ductwork design, and equipment selection for nuclear HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of ASME AG-1, ASHRAE, SMACNA standards, and experience with DOE Nuclear Cleaning Handbook and guides.
- Full-time role with part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office.
- 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
