This position is based at our Kent Store location.

Role Responsibilities:

As a member of our Outside Sales Team, you will be responsible for servicing both existing and prospective clients at their locations, assisting them in selecting, purchasing, and utilizing a diverse array of fasteners, industrial hardware, tools, maintenance supplies, and shop essentials. Our clientele spans various sectors, including transportation, heavy equipment, maintenance and repair, sand/gravel operations, and machine shops. Successful Outside Sales Representatives demonstrate outstanding customer service, excel in building and maintaining relationships, possess strong organizational skills, and effectively manage multiple clients and orders. This role requires regular travel, including occasional overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by fulfilling commitments, honoring appointments, and adhering to pre-scheduled agendas.
  • Understand customer needs, resolve issues, and identify opportunities for new product offerings.
  • Exhibit comprehensive product knowledge, handle special requests, maintain awareness of pricing, and stay informed about the competitive landscape.
  • Establish and maintain an effective route management system for your designated market area.
  • Service multiple customer locations daily by delivering orders and organizing products within customer premises, including lifting and transporting goods as necessary.
  • Efficiently manage customer orders, utilize remote order entry systems, maintain accurate paperwork, and document pricing, returns, and billing details.
  • Respond promptly to quote requests and ensure timely follow-ups.
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy for existing and potential customers, setting clear goals for increasing sales through new or promotional products and maintaining regular communication.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal colleagues, including Branch Managers, Inside Sales team, Purchasing staff, Warehouse personnel, and other support staff.
  • Operate and maintain a company vehicle following safe driving practices and adhere to company guidelines for vehicle upkeep. This role involves significant time on the road.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean record
  • Minimum of 2 years of Retail Experience, preferably in an industrial environment
  • Prior experience in Outside Sales is advantageous
  • Proficiency in mathematics, verbal and written communication
  • Good computer literacy
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to handle order pulling, loading, and delivery tasks efficiently
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods
  • Proficient in safe driving, capable of operating a vehicle for long durations
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding job duties
  • Skilled in using hands for order processing and inventory checks

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 annually
  • Potential Year-End Bonus at the company's discretion
  • Company-Provided Vehicle for Work and Personal Use (Ford F150) along with Gas Card
  • Cellular Phone Allowance
