Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from proposal development to construction execution. This role includes managing all technical components of Transportation and Roadway projects, ensuring quality control and assurance in all documentation, and coordinating with engineers and sub-consultants. The position requires direct interaction with clients throughout the project phases, representing the company at industry events and forums.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management:
    • Lead the design and management of transportation engineering projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all design efforts.
    • Collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives, including plans, surveys, and investigations.
    • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
    • Evaluate and adapt standard techniques and criteria to solve project-specific challenges.
    • Manage multiple projects efficiently, adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
    • Develop proposals, bid documents, and project reports.
    • Participate in project meetings, presenting engineering aspects of assignments.
    • Coordinate with internal departments and disciplines involved in the project.
    • Ensure compliance with firm and contract requirements, supporting project scope and budget.
    • Interpret contract specifications and resolve conflicts with contractors regarding specifications and quality.
    • Maintain a list of project milestones and ongoing issues.
    • Prepare monthly status reports and manage change orders.
    • Facilitate client and contractor meetings, addressing project-related issues.
    • Draft project scopes, tasks, budgets, and schedules.
    • Mentor junior staff on best practices in transportation and project management.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify new project opportunities for the transportation division.
    • Lead marketing and business development initiatives.
    • Engage in industry forums to network and identify potential clients.
    • Collaborate with clients, officials, contractors, and sub-consultants.
    • Prepare scope and fee proposals for internal review.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or Bentley software.
  • Skilled in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, management, and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client information.
  • Excellent command of English, including grammar and vocabulary.
Licensure:
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Florida Professional Engineer licensure, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position includes supervisory duties, overseeing AVCON staff and sub-consultants. For larger or more complex projects, it may involve supervising staff from other departments.

Work Environment:

The role is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits in outdoor settings. While nights and weekends are generally not required, they may be necessary on short notice.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to communicate effectively, sit for extended periods, and occasionally stand, walk, or lift items up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities are necessary for this role.

As per client site protocols, the candidate must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
