Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States Securian Financial Group Full time
Program Overview

An internship with Securian Financial offers a unique opportunity to develop meaningful connections with experienced associates and fellow interns while exploring professional growth in the field of actuarial science.

Our interns are connected to work that matters, helping to drive and deliver value for our customers with the support of great Securian team members at their side.

You'll have the opportunity to interact with company leaders and learn from their career stories as well as get to know more about who we are as a company and the things we value - like our commitment to community through hands-on volunteer activities.

At Securian, supportive leaders facilitate an environment where interns are provided mentoring and learning resources to acclimate them into the workspace.

Teams work collaboratively to achieve milestones and improvements.

Personal growth and development opportunities are prioritized and recognized.

We encourage and celebrate involvement in Associate Resource Groups around various Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.

This internship is intended for undergraduate students who will be completing their degree in December '25 or May '26.

We are unable to pursue candidates who would require Visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

There are two primary goals in our actuarial internship program:

  1. To give students an opportunity to explore the actuarial field as a possible career choice.
  2. To use internship programs as a recruiting tool to identify potential full-time talent.

The internship will include a variety of actuarial research activities dependent upon the need of the department at the time of the internship.

These activities may include things like expense studies, lapse studies, rate management analysis, product pricing, process automation, etc.

These activities will provide an overall exposure to the profession of actuarial science.

Projects vary each summer because they are real-world experiences.

They are not simulated projects, but projects that have relevance to immediate business needs of the company.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  1. A successful track record in a four-year degree program, in Math or Actuarial Science.
  2. Proven project and people leadership skills which includes developing strategies, motivating individuals, providing feedback, and driving for results.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills including listening and presentation skills.
  4. Strong organizational skills to balance multiple projects and duties.
  5. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think critically.
Benefits

As a valued member of our high-performing team, we want you to connect with your work, your relationships, and your community.

We offer a comprehensive range of benefits designed to enhance your professional growth, well-being, and work-life balance, including:
