As a Senior Manager, Staff Engineering at GEICO, you will be responsible for leading the strategy and execution of our technical roadmap to increase speed in delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities.

- Manage a team of Kubernetes-based multi-cluster management platform professionals.
- Own end-to-end delivery of team strategies and platforms.
- Identify and raise project risks, and present solutions or alternatives.
- Understand how requirements impact systems across multiple areas.
- Report team progress and present ideas for improvement.
- Initiate performance evaluations and cultivate a culture of achievement.
- Build relationships with team members to foster trust.
- Develop the team budget and report results regularly.
- Contribute to team planning and surface associate-level proposals.
- Software design knowledge and experience.
- Cloud computing technologies and concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
- Knowledge of Linux, Virtual Machines, Container (Docker/Containerd), Cluster Management (Kubernetes) technologies.
- Development and Management experience in cluster and container management, multi-cluster networking, and metrics, observability, and operations.
- Experience with software development, application modernization, DevOps, Service/Infrastructure as Service, and Operations.
- Basic understanding of CI/CD toolchain products and IaC tools.
- Knowledge of API, Microservices, network, and security architectures and design patterns.
- Fluency with at least one modern language (Python, Java, Go) and open-source software experience is a plus.
- Conflict management, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and adapt to new technologies.
- Application monitoring tools and performance assessments experience.
- Metric analysis and decision-making skills.
- 6+ years coding experience.
- 5+ years of significant experience building scalable, fault-tolerant, and robust products and platforms.
- 5+ years of hands-on work experience supervising 10+ personnel.
- 2+ years of automated testing experience including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
Estimated Annual Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $300,000.00
The salary range is a general guideline considering factors such as role scope, selected candidate's experience, education, location, and market considerations.
