Key Responsibilities:
As a Public Health Nutritionist, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive nutrition evaluations for WIC clients, identifying nutritional risks, and developing personalized nutrition care plans. You will utilize standardized processes to document findings and provide tailored nutrition counseling, ensuring clients are supported in achieving their health goals.
- Maintaining accurate records in the WIC Information System and Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) System, ensuring compliance with established guidelines. You will assign appropriate food packages based on individual client needs and manage future appointments effectively.
- Serving as a Breastfeeding Coordinator, offering vital support to mothers during prenatal and postpartum stages. You will lead staff training initiatives and create an environment that promotes breastfeeding within the clinic.
- Coordinating nutrition education services and making referrals to additional health and social services as necessary, ensuring clients receive comprehensive support.
Essential Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A thorough understanding of nutrition science and current dietary practices.
- Proficiency in nutritional assessment techniques and data analysis.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate various computer systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate diverse audiences effectively.
- Capacity to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients.
Education and Licensing:
Applicants must hold a valid state driver’s license and possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Nutrition Sciences, Dietetics, or a related field. A valid state Dietitian/Nutritionist License is also required.
