Job Summary:

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Agape Community Health Center is a vital member of the executive leadership team, tasked with shaping the strategic vision and overall direction for clinical operations and patient care services.

The CMO will be instrumental in developing clinical teams and ensuring that the necessary infrastructure is established to facilitate both current and future growth.

This role also involves providing guidance and insights to the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors on a wide array of clinical quality initiatives, clinical policies, and strategic matters essential for achieving both short-term and long-term objectives.

Collaboration with medical staff is crucial to ensure the highest standards of medical care are maintained at Agape Community Health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee medical staff governance, including the management of the medical staff office and functions related to credentialing and privileging activities.
  • Coordinate clinical performance evaluations and re-credentialing processes for medical staff.
  • Assist medical staff leaders in resolving communication, behavioral, and practice-related issues.
  • Ensure timely communication of key updates to the medical staff.
  • Promote initiatives that enhance engagement among clinical providers.
  • Advocate for and provide clinical insights that support the patient-centered mission, vision, values, and strategies of Agape Community Health Center.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers.
  • Foster alignment within the healthcare team to deliver evidence-based, safe, high-quality, and cost-effective care.
  • Integrate and align medical staff, ambulatory care practices, quality and safety initiatives, peer review processes, and resource management.
  • Facilitate communication between medical staff and administration in collaboration with physician leadership.
  • Work with medical staff and administrative leaders to develop effective leadership training and succession planning.
  • Support recruitment and retention efforts for clinical practitioners.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives, including medical staff development needs.
  • Collaborate on the development and management of annual budgets for the health system.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Graduate Degree from an accredited medical school is required.
  • Must be a licensed physician in the state of Florida.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification through AHA or ARC is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical nonprofit setting is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience is required.
  • Board certification by the US Board of Medicine is required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Understanding of the operations of a Federally Qualified Health Center.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with high integrity and ethical standards.
  • Strong skills in conflict resolution, communication (both oral and written), strategic planning, and team leadership.
  • Familiarity with quality, safety, and population health initiatives.
  • While not mandatory, it is preferable for the CMO to maintain some clinical practice and demonstrate clinical competency.
