Job Description

As a key member of the Mark Twain Casino team, the Assistant Safety and Security Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of the Security Department and operations. This includes coordination of security operations, as well as managing, training, and assessing performance of security personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure a high level of guest service throughout the Security Department, promoting a courteous, polite, and professional interaction with guests.
  2. Safeguard assets of the company, implementing Security department policies and procedures as directed by management.
  3. Supervise all personnel assigned within the Security department, planning and scheduling security activities for each shift.
  4. Conduct effective pre-shift meetings to ensure staff understands regulatory concerns, safety issues, and marketing events.
  5. Investigate reported incidents and accident reports, ensuring that security personnel appearance standards are met.
  6. Conduct candidate interviews, hires, trains new hires, and plan and assign duties, reviewing performance and discipline, addressing complaints and resolving issues and problems.
  7. Conduct disciplinary actions, coaching, and counseling with employees as needed.
  8. Assist in the development of safety and security policies and procedures.
  9. Ensure proper training of Mark Twain Security personnel in CPR, First Aid, and/or First Responder.
  10. Adhere to safety rules and regulations of the Security Department, MGC, and Mark Twain Casino.
  11. Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Include interviewing, hiring, and training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, documenting concerns and discipline, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous Security and/or Casino experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

EMS/EMT First Responder Certification preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Gaming License.

Skills:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
  • Must have Microsoft Office experience and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and in a fast-paced organization, ability to multi-task.

Reasoning Ability:

Planning, remembering details, using arithmetic, reading, directing others, making decisions, discriminating colors, working rapidly, working at various tempos, concentrating amid distractions, remembering names and faces, and examining and observing details.

Physical Demands:

Standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, carrying, pulling, hearing, lifting 50lbs, sitting, bending/stooping, observing, stretching, pushing, turning, balancing, smelling.

Work Environment:

Inside, dry, noisy, heat, hot, outside, wet, dirty, secondary smoke, and bright and blinking lights.
