Job Description

KIPP Chicago is a network of high-performing schools in Chicago that aims to provide a joyful and academically excellent education to its students. We are seeking a College Access Alumni Advisor to join our KIPP Forward team, which supports KIPP Chicago alumni in developing the tools and knowledge needed to attain a college degree.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of 230-250 students per year, providing one-on-one support and guidance to ensure timely submission of college applications and financial aid.
  • Develop and implement personalized plans to support students in achieving their academic and career goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with students, families, high schools, colleges, and scholarship organizations to ensure a smooth transition to post-secondary education.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide resources and support to students and families.
  • Manage special projects and events to support students through pre-college summer programs, scholarship opportunities, and other initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • At least two years of professional experience managing large caseloads in student advising, academic advising, college counseling, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and evidence of strong follow-through, initiative taking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive Suite, Salesforce, and ability to quickly learn new programs/systems.
  • Flexibility to work some nights and weekends to connect with KIPP alumni/families and ability to travel around the Chicago-land area to support alumni at various high school campuses.
  • Cleared CPS Background check.
