We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library Assistant. This role will provide exceptional service to library users, perform circulation transactions, and assist with various library tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service to library users, responding to their inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform circulation transactions, including checking out and returning materials, and resolving any related issues.
- Assist with opening and closing the library, ensuring that all necessary tasks are completed and the library is secure.
- Help library users locate materials in the stacks, course reserves, reference, and online collections.
- Shelve library materials, perform shelf-reading, and maintain collections to ensure they are organized and easily accessible.
- Participate in miscellaneous clerical, technological, and problem-solving activities and projects assigned by or in the absence of full-time staff.
- Answer general information and basic reference questions, providing accurate and helpful responses.
- Experience in a public service setting, preferably in a library environment, is highly desirable.
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems quickly are essential.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills are required, as well as the ability to follow directions and maintain a schedule.
- Must be willing to work a combination of evening, weekend, and daytime hours and be a dependable team player.
