Job Title: Library Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Associate to join our team at the St. Louis County Library. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, performing circulation duties, and assisting with programming and outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform circulation duties to ensure accurate customer records and provide assistance with borrowing and returning materials.
  • Interview customers to assess their needs and provide information and guidance on library resources and services.
  • Assist customers with public access computing and provide training on library skills to enhance their confidence and independence.
  • Perform clerical duties to maintain the organization of library materials and provide customer services.
  • Organize and participate in special projects and programming to enhance the quality of service to the community.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Ability to bend to very low shelves or reach to high shelves when retrieving library materials.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to push a full cart of books or other library materials.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate various types of library equipment.
