Position Overview:

This is a permanent role within the Headquarters of the US Army Corps of Engineers, specifically in the Directorate of Military Programs.

This position is designated for permanent employment and will be filled at the GS-09 level, with a target of GS-11. The responsibilities outlined are reflective of the full performance level at GS-11 and will initially be performed under close supervision in a developmental capacity.

To qualify, candidates must meet the education and/or experience requirements detailed below.

Experience encompasses both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer roles undertaken through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.

Resumes must clearly articulate relevant experience; if qualifying through education, transcripts will be required as part of the application.

Experience required at GS-09:

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Providing a comprehensive range of administrative support functions to assist the Senior Executive Service (SES) and the Director of the organization; 2) Preparing travel-related documentation and managing financial administration using automated financial management systems; and 3) Engaging with senior civilian and military personnel as well as other stakeholders to conduct basic fact-finding tasks.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education:

A Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be utilized to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.

Add the two percentages.

Experience required at GS-11:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Executing administrative functions including serving as a Personal Assistant to the Director; 2) Offering a variety of administrative consultancy and technical advisory services; 3) Managing the calendars of appointments, meetings, and conferences for the Director and Deputy; AND 4) Utilizing office automation systems and various software applications.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education:
Ph.D.

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field that demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be utilized to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.

Add the two percentages.
