The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati is a complimentary, out-of-school and summer youth development organization dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk youth, empowering them to become productive adults and break the cycle of poverty through community engagement.

Primary Objective: To design and execute programs for Club members aligned with BGCGC's mission, focusing on the Graduate, Fit for Life, Ready to Serve program framework. Programs are guided by the Youth Program Quality Intervention (YPQI) tool, developed by the Weikert Center for Youth Program Quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized guidance and foster relationships with members that promote their growth and development.
  • Develop engaging and enjoyable programs that resonate with BGCA initiatives and member interests.
  • Establish a weekly program schedule that reflects the program framework and ongoing quality enhancement.
  • Encourage interest in the program through personal involvement, skilled instruction, special events, competitions, and member recognition.
  • Supervise and provide direction to Assistant Program Leaders.
  • Ensure that relevant program areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
  • Maintain an ongoing inventory of supplies and materials necessary for effective programming.
  • Engage in professional development training as required by BGCGC and YPQI.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Club Director.

Collaboration and Relationships:

  • Maintain close communication with the Program Coordinator, Education Coordinator, Club Director, and other Club staff, volunteers, and parents.
  • Collaborate with fellow Program Leaders and Leadership Staff to enhance program development.
  • Actively participate in professional development training.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

We uphold a 15:1 member to staff ratio. Activities are diverse and necessitate active participation during educational and recreational programming, which may involve extended periods of walking and standing. Maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs. Average lift less than 25 lbs. Requires proficiency in using computers, various standard and specialized software, database systems, keyboards, calculators, and typical office equipment.

Education/Experience Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A college degree is preferred. A minimum of 1 year of experience in youth development is required.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Dynamic, innovative, and creative individual with high ethical standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Understanding of the needs and interests of young individuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to interact positively with young people, particularly regarding behavioral issues.
  • Maintain a positive, friendly, and cooperative demeanor in the workplace.

CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.

Position Details:

  • Part-time employment (Hours typically range between 2pm-8pm)
  • Hourly Rate: $15.00/hour
