Job Summary

The City of Elk Grove is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Red Light Enforcement Technician. This role is responsible for supporting the Police Department's automated red light photo enforcement program, ensuring compliance with Section of the California Vehicle Code (CVC), and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews traffic violations and the issuance of citations in addition to video and digital photographic evidence to ensure cases are processed in compliance with Section of the California Vehicle Code (CVC).
  • Investigates and identifies violations using multiple search techniques and law enforcement databases to identify drivers.
  • Prepares and submits documents required by the Sacramento County Superior Court; files cases with pending court dispositions; prepares responses to violations contested through trial by declaration; and writes dismissal requests to the Court Magistrate.
  • Maintains and updates the court book, posts public record amendments and court discovery documents, and tracks subpoenas and court dates.
  • Reviews and inspects required signage to ensure compliance with vehicle code requirements; oversees and coordinates the maintenance, repair, replacement, and/or cleaning of signs to conform with Section of the California Vehicle Code (CVC).
  • Serves as City liaison with automated camera vendor for the maintenance and repair of red-light photo enforcement equipment; maintains records of work performed at photo enforced intersections.
  • Conducts statistical studies and prepares technical reports.
  • Responds to public inquiries and complaints; assists the public in person, by telephone, or in writing; assists the public to view videos and/or digital photographic evidence.
  • Provides court testimony, serving as the City representative, as necessary.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of clerical and/or office experience working with the public. A valid California driver's license is required.
