Senior Electrical Avionics Engineer

As a Senior Electrical Avionics Engineer at EchoStar, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems and avionics for our broadband internet connectivity product. This includes evaluating and designing electrical, avionics, connectors, and related systems to ensure they meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will create electrical specifications, system interconnect diagrams, wiring diagrams, wire routing, connector design, and LRU electrical requirements.
Component Selection
Select and source electrical components and materials, considering factors such as reliability, durability, and compatibility with aviation standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems into the overall aircraft design. Develop test plans and procedures, oversee testing activities, and analyze test results to verify the performance and safety of electrical systems. Stay up to date with aviation regulations and certification requirements, and ensure that all electrical systems meet relevant standards and guidelines. Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with electrical systems, and develop contingency plans to address unexpected issues. As the team grows, lead and mentor junior electrical engineers, providing guidance and expertise in electrical engineering principles and aviation-specific knowledge.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aviation, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. 7-10 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on aviation or aerospace. Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and standards (e.g. FAA, EASA) and experience with aircraft design methodologies. Familiarity with industry-specific tools and technologies (DO-254, DO-160). A strong working knowledge of the STC process. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aviation, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, proficiency in CAD software for electrical design, and strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects. Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
