Position Overview

The Catering and Special Events team plays a vital role in executing memorable occasions on the property, including weddings and corporate gatherings. Events are hosted at our beautiful venues, such as The Fearrington Barn and The Garden Terrace. Recently recognized by Forbes Travel Guide as the premier luxury hotel for weddings in the nation, this is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a dedicated team.

The responsibilities of the Catering and Special Events team encompass site preparation, food service, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. While the work is year-round, it tends to be more active during the spring and fall seasons. Team members will report directly to the catering manager.

Note: Extended work hours are typical (approximately 12+ hours), with many events occurring during evenings and weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare venues for events, including cleaning, stocking, and arranging essential items such as tablecloths and place settings, as well as setting up buffets and serving guests.
  • Adapt to varying duties during events, maintaining focus while being mobile, which may involve bending, climbing stairs, and lifting items weighing between 25-50 pounds.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and follow directions efficiently while meeting the physical demands of the role. A positive attitude is crucial.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards consistently, including the breakdown of setups and proper handling of linens at the conclusion of events.
Qualifications:
  • Punctuality and a friendly demeanor are essential.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as banquet event orders.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and maintain focus.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Previous experience in customer service is advantageous but not mandatory.
