SUMMARY

Our Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) business offers a comprehensive investment management solution that combines program oversight, manager research, customized program design, global custody, and client servicing.

We serve a diverse client base, including corporate pension and retirement plans, foundations, endowments, healthcare organizations, government entities, family offices, not-for-profit organizations, and public funds.

Our team works closely with clients to define their return objectives and risk tolerance, then builds a customized multi-manager investment program diversified across multiple asset classes, investment managers, and styles.

The integrated suite of investment solutions includes:

Actuarial services, asset/liability studies, cash flow analysis, investment policy design, asset allocation, investment manager research and selection, program construction, program monitoring and evaluation, portfolio rebalancing, performance measurement, risk management, defined benefit and defined contribution plan management, trust and custody services, and credit services.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Client Investment Officer is responsible for developing investment solutions and servicing key relationships within the Retirement segment.

They will work closely with company staff, including corporate Treasurers, CFOs, and senior human resources personnel, to create, implement, and oversee complex, multi-asset class, multi-manager investment programs.

Services range from investment policy and asset allocation to open architecture manager search, selection, and oversight, portfolio construction, implementation, and continuous improvement across traditional and alternative investment strategies.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing clients with investment program solutions advisory services, developing an understanding of clients' unique needs, and coordinating the design, implementation, and monitoring of a customized, open architecture, investment program across traditional and alternative investments to meet those needs.

Communicating with clients and internal team members on a regular basis, anticipating and responding to issues and developments, researching issues and opportunities, developing new ideas, and discussing investment program solutions capabilities.

Attending client meetings and presenting investment reviews and performance results on a regular basis.

Coordination of asset allocation, rebalancing, manager search, portfolio construction, and similar analytical exercises working closely with internal teams and team members.

Coordination with dedicated pension risk strategists to build appropriate strategies for clients.

Interpreting economic, market, and business information to recognize, understand, and communicate market environment.

Assisting in new product development and marketing, working with product, research, and marketing to develop and identify new investment ideas or opportunities.

Involved in ongoing marketing of our services and business development efforts.

Cross-selling or referring company products and services to existing clients, when appropriate.

Proactively advising partners of issues that may affect clients/prospects in either a positive or negative way.

Displaying a high level of teamwork toward achieving business unit and team goals, being a positive influence in the group.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

7-10+ years of investment expertise, including experience with retirement plans, asset allocation, and a variety of investment strategies.

Ideal recent experience as CIO or senior member of team responsible for a retirement plan, head of an asset class, or senior institutional investment consultant.

Extensive knowledge regarding traditional and alternative investments in an open-architecture framework, as well as related issues that affect investments (economy, markets, finance).

Proven success developing and delivering integrated investment services to sophisticated clients.

Ability to communicate complex investment solutions to a variety of constituents with varying levels of investment knowledge.

Technology orientation and proficiency required to coordinate analysis of client portfolios and recommendations for improvements.

Written and interpersonal presentation skills important for ongoing client interaction, team engagement, and new business participation.

MBA/CFA/CAIA/CIMA or other relevant investment credentials preferred.
