Responsibilities
  • Standards of Practice
    • The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model.
    • The RN establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family, encompassing an understanding and integration of cultural and diversity into practice.
    • The RN communicates and works collaboratively with the patient, family, and healthcare team members to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Standards of Professional Performance
    • The RN practices ethically, culturally congruent, and effectively communicates in all areas of practice.
    • The RN collaborates with healthcare consumers and other key stakeholders in the conduct of nursing practice.
    • The RN leads within the professional practice setting and the profession, contributing to quality nursing practice.
Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. All newly hired registered nurses must have current BCLS certification or must obtain within one month of hire.

Experience: At least 3 years of pediatric RN experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Requires coverage of extended clinic sessions.

Licenses and Certifications: Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.

Physical Demands: Requires prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing, and touch. May be exposed to infectious diseases. Will be exposed to physical, mental, and emotional illness as well as end of life conditions and death. Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care.
