Overview of the Role

We are seeking a skilled Research Scientist/Engineer 2 to join our team at the University of Washington. This position will involve working with cutting-edge long-read DNA and RNA sequencing technology, collaborating with researchers to design and implement innovative projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics.

Main Responsibilities:
• Design and implement long-read sequencing projects on the Pacific Biosciences Revio platform, working closely with researchers and collaborators.
• Assist with experimental design, data delivery, and analysis questions, providing expert guidance and support as needed.
• Maintain databases, track samples, and ensure seamless workflow operations.

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Genetics, or closely related Life Sciences field.
• 2 years' experience in a genomics laboratory, with a strong foundation in molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics tools.
• Experience with RNA extraction and handling protocols, as well as competence in basic computing skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or Google Docs and Sheets.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Benefits and Compensation:
Estimated salary range: $85,000 - $110,000 per year. As a UW employee, you will also receive comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
