Key Responsibilities:

The intern will engage with a project team, where duties will be assigned based on project requirements and individual strengths. Below is a typical outline of project phases and the associated tasks where an intern may contribute. The percentages indicate the relative effort for each task, which may vary by project.

Instrumentation & Electrical Design (40%):

  • Develop instrument lists by reviewing P&ID diagrams.
  • Compile documentation for procurement and submittals related to control and instrument hardware.
  • Provide technical assistance to panel fabrication teams.
  • Inspect completed control enclosures for quality assurance.

System Design and Configuration (30%):

  • Participate in design review meetings with clients.
  • Assemble development systems utilizing project hardware and computing resources.
  • Configure user interfaces and HMI displays.
  • Set up DDC, PLC, and/or DCS control algorithms.
  • Create system documentation using established templates.
  • Assist in customer demonstrations and acceptance testing.

Onsite System Startup (30%):

  • Work under supervision or alongside a team at client locations.
  • Install project software and configurations on-site.
  • Conduct point-to-point loop checks.
  • Perform calibration and tuning of instrumentation and software.
  • Engage in functional testing of all systems.
  • Troubleshoot any discrepancies in installations.
  • Program field modifications as necessary.
  • Assist in developing commissioning test plans and updating documentation.
  • Help create training materials for system operations and maintenance.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time student.
  • Maintain a strong academic record with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a technical field related to Engineering or Systems.
  • Demonstrate a passion for problem-solving and solution development.
