Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Commercial Insurance Underwriting Assistant to support our underwriting team. The role involves assisting the Underwriter in evaluating, quoting, and finalizing new submissions, as well as issuing certificates of insurance and invoices for both new and renewal business. The Underwriting Assistant will also manage the renewal process, ensuring accurate data entry for new and renewal business, and handle change requests efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Underwriter in processing, quoting, and finalizing new submissions.
  • Review insurance applications and proactively request any missing information.
  • Issue confirmations of binding evidence and invoices for new business.
  • Perform data entry into the Quote and Policy Issuance Databases.
  • Implement changes to rates and endorsements for renewals and generate renewal quotes.
  • Process Evidence of Insurance for renewals and verify the accuracy of information in the underwriting database.
  • Manage mortgagee changes and issue revised certificates of Evidence of Insurance to mortgagees.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Two years of experience in commercial property casualty insurance is preferred.
  • A P&C license is advantageous but not essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong data entry skills and familiarity with web/database searches.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
Compensation:
  • Salary range: $40,000 - $50,000, based on experience.
