Position Overview:

Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) is responsible for managing the intake process for the COVID-19 Emergency Hotel Program, in collaboration with the Fairfax County Department of Social Services. This initiative encompasses multiple hotel locations, providing essential emergency accommodations for residents needing quarantine or isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Intake Specialist will operate primarily through a dedicated hotline, available 12 hours a day, seven days a week, to facilitate hotel entry for eligible individuals. The program is designed to assist those who are at high risk of severe illness, require isolation to maintain social distancing, have tested positive for COVID-19, are symptomatic, or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to inquiries from potential clients and community partners.
  • Determine hotel assignments and coordinate transportation for clients.
  • Provide information regarding hotel policies and expectations to guests prior to arrival.
  • Conduct thorough eligibility assessments for program services, including intake and enrollment.
  • Ensure accurate data entry to maintain unduplicated client records.
  • Stay updated on program software and relevant information to enhance workflow.
  • Engage in regular supervision with the Intake Coordinator, providing updates on client interactions.
  • Make referrals to additional services as necessary and collaborate with community providers.
  • Maintain client files in compliance with program standards and NVFS guidelines.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in direct service.
  • Fluency in English, with bilingual skills in languages such as Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with clients.
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard hours as required.
