Behavioral Health Intake Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Intake Coordinator to join our team at The University of Kansas Health System. As a key member of our intake team, you will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate the intake and admission process for patients, providing exceptional customer service and empathy towards families and children in crisis.
- Establish encounters for patients who meet assessment guidelines, collaborating with internal and external providers to ensure seamless care.
- Collect demographic information, parent or guardian information, contact details, and guarantor information, as well as basic clinical information regarding reason for referral.
- Coordinate inpatient registrations in a timely manner, working closely with nursing staff, physicians, milieu managers, clinical assessors, therapists, and utilization review.
- Perform bed management in conjunction with nursing and youth care managers, ensuring accurate and efficient patient flow.
- Enter information into computer systems with correct spelling, date of birth, social security number, employer, guarantor, and medical record number.
- Explain facility policies and obtain consent and insurance forms from patients and/or guardians.
- Document patient information accurately and securely, adhering to administrative policies and departmental procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Behavioral Science or related field.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain empathy and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of administrative policies and departmental procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
