Job Opportunity

LeMoyne-Owen College, a four-year Liberal Arts College located in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking a qualified candidate for a tenure-track position in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching sociology and social psychology courses, as well as advising students and participating in departmental governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach sociology and social psychology courses at the undergraduate level
  • Advise students and provide mentorship
  • Participate in departmental governance and service
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of a diverse student body
  • Engage in ongoing research and scholarly activities

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Social Sciences, Sociology, or related field
  • Academic expertise in sociology and social psychology
  • Ability to teach statistics and research methods courses
  • Demonstrated potential for successful college-level teaching
  • Demonstrated potential for continuing development of research and scholarly activities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of scholarship and teaching experience in sociology and social psychology
  • Expertise in quantitative research methods and/or statistics
  • Ability to mentor students and supervise research
