Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Education Professional to join our team at Union County Community Action, Inc. as a Lead Teacher for our Head Start/NC PreK program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Collaborate with the Site Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive educational program that meets the needs of our young students.
  • Classroom Management: Directly supervise and manage a classroom of students, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Staff Training and Support: Train and support Assistant Teachers and volunteers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care and education.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student progress and develop individualized plans to meet their unique needs.
  • Parent Engagement: Foster strong relationships with parents and engage them in their child's education through regular communication and home visits.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including Head Start Performance Standards and Day Care Licensing requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Certifications: North Carolina State BK-Teacher's Certification and Child Care Credential II, & I (EDU 119).
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in early childhood education, preferably in a lead teacher or program management role.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to work with diverse populations, and proficiency in Teaching Strategies Gold software.
