Job Title: Assistant Preschool Teacher

Join our team at Union County Community Action, Inc. as an Assistant Preschool Teacher, where you will play a vital role in supporting the development of young children in our Head Start/NC PreK program.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to assist our experienced teachers in creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment for our preschoolers. As an Assistant Preschool Teacher, you will work closely with our teaching staff to plan and implement daily activities, develop relationships with parents, and ensure the overall well-being of our children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily planning and implementation of activities and programs for the classroom
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and families
  • Support record-keeping and documentation
  • Attend pre-service and in-service training
  • Assist teachers in following daily lesson plans
  • Implement Head Start goals, objectives, and concepts
  • Assume leadership of the class in the teacher's absence
  • Assist in assessing children's progress
  • Support writing individual records and anecdotal records
  • Assist with daily health checks and home visits
  • Transport children safely and efficiently
  • Ensure children's safety and supervision at all times
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent
  • EDU 119 and six months to one-year related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Basic math skills and ability to manage classroom resources
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
