Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Full Time History Instructor to join our team at Richmond Community College. As a member of our faculty, you will be responsible for providing effective instruction in the assigned curriculum area, teaching students to meet student learning outcomes, and maintaining a positive attitude in interactions with students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach students effectively to meet student learning outcomes.
  • Hold class sessions as scheduled to meet student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain office hours as required by college policy.
  • Make course syllabi and instructor course requirements available to students.
  • Provide clearly organized and understandable instruction.
  • Provide adequate and timely feedback and evaluation of assignments.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in interactions with students and show a genuine concern for student learning.
  • Fulfill obligations in student recruiting, advising, orientation, and registration.
  • Assist in the continual evaluation and enhancement of curricula through the planning process and departmental meetings.
  • Provide the Vice President for Instruction or his/her designee with updated instructor's course requirements that reflect expected student learning outcomes.
  • Submit accurate and complete records and reports in a timely manner to provide assessment data for institutional improvement.
  • Attend and participate in faculty, advisory, and assigned committee meetings designated to improve curriculum programs.
  • Participate in professional development, including back-to-industry, conference, and workshop activities that lead to professional and institutional advancement.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have a Master's degree in teaching discipline (History) from an accredited institution, a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in History, and teaching experience. Demonstrated ability to integrate computers into the instructional environment and online teaching experience are preferred.
