About the Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic sales counter representative to become a vital part of our organization. The individual in this role will be responsible for assisting customers with their purchases, preparing orders, and ensuring timely packing of products. This position requires a high-energy individual who thrives in a team-oriented environment and maintains focus throughout the workday. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with customers both in-person and over the phone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers in selecting products that meet their needs.
  • Accurately process orders as they are received, ensuring all details are correct.
  • Consider all relevant cost factors when preparing quotes to ensure profitability.
  • Monitor inventory levels to anticipate supply availability and address potential issues.
  • Act as a customer advocate in interactions with various departments, including Credit, Operations, Shipping, and Purchasing.
  • Understand and manage the expected gross margin performance for assigned accounts.
  • Regularly review account profitability and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Address customer complaints and concerns effectively, ensuring satisfaction for both the customer and the company.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal communication skills for one-on-one interactions.
  • Previous experience in customer service, preferably in the steel industry.
  • Excellent telephone sales skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Effective time management abilities and capacity to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with Stelplan is advantageous.
  • Strong listening skills and the ability to interpret customer needs.
  • Basic computer skills and good organizational abilities.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
