Summary: Under general supervision, the incumbent provides high-quality education through structured lessons, assessing learning requirements, designing and facilitating engaging educational activities, utilizing evaluations to track student development, and maintaining communication with administration and families. The role involves creating a dynamic classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and personal development, motivating students to acquire essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts various assessments and observations to identify areas where students may require additional or modified educational support, including academic performance, behavior, social skills, or health considerations.
  • Recognizes student needs and formulates corresponding lesson and teaching strategies.
  • Integrates technology into educational plans.
  • Collaborates with classroom educators, parents, psychologists, social workers, and other relevant personnel to develop a comprehensive educational strategy for each child.
  • Leads the team in creating individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, establishing learning objectives and making necessary adjustments; ensures that activities and lessons are tailored to each student's capabilities.
  • Designs and delivers lessons that provide engaging learning experiences for small groups and individual students while adhering to the specifications of IEPs and 504 plans.
  • Implements IEPs, conducts ongoing assessments, and continuously monitors progress, making adjustments as needed.
  • Coordinates and participates in IEP meetings.
  • Works in conjunction with classroom and homeroom teachers to ensure that each student's requirements are met and plans are executed.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with all stakeholders (families and related services).
  • Ensures compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); guarantees that each eligible student receives Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) tailored to their individual needs.
  • Completes and maintains all documentation required by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Stays informed about special education teaching methodologies, research, and best practices through professional development and study.
  • Maintains knowledge of grade-level content and standards relevant to the students served.
  • Establishes and enforces classroom management protocols that ensure academic engagement and the physical and emotional safety of all students.
  • Recognizes and celebrates student achievements and successes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements. Verification of these qualifications is necessary.
  • Possess and maintain an appropriate Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certification for the position.
  • Obtain and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Fingerprint Clearance Card.
