Accountable To: Principal/Director of Special Services

Summary: Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for delivering high-quality educational experiences through structured lesson plans, assessing learning requirements, designing and facilitating engaging instructional activities, utilizing evaluations to track student development, and maintaining communication with administration and families. The role involves creating a dynamic classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and personal development, motivating students to acquire the skills, attitudes, and knowledge essential for their growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct various assessments and observations to identify areas where students may require additional or adjusted educational support, including academic performance, behavior, social skills, or health considerations.
- Recognize student needs and formulate corresponding lesson and teaching strategies.
- Integrate technology into educational plans.
- Collaborate with classroom educators, parents, psychologists, social workers, and other relevant personnel to develop a comprehensive educational strategy for each child.
- Lead the team in creating individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, establishing learning objectives and making necessary adjustments; ensure that lessons and activities are tailored to each student's capabilities.
- Design and implement lessons that offer stimulating learning experiences for both small groups and individual students, adhering to the specifications of IEPs and 504 plans.
- Execute IEPs, provide ongoing assessments, and continuously monitor progress, making modifications as needed.
- Coordinate and participate in IEP meetings.
- Work alongside classroom and homeroom teachers to ensure that each student's requirements are addressed and plans are executed effectively.
- Maintain open lines of communication with all stakeholders, including families and related services.
- Ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), guaranteeing that each eligible student receives Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) tailored to their individual needs.
- Complete and maintain all documentation as mandated by local, state, and federal regulations.
- Stay informed about special education methodologies, research, and best practices through ongoing professional development.
- Maintain awareness of grade-level content and standards relevant to the students served.
- Establish and uphold classroom management protocols that promote academic engagement and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
- Celebrate student achievements and milestones.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess and maintain an appropriate Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certification for the designated role.
- Obtain and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Fingerprint Clearance Card.
