Summary/objective
This position reports to the Chief Science Officer. The mission of this role is to oversee, coordinate, and develop the Students 2 Science (S2S) Grades 3-5 STEM Program. S2S is developing a fully interactive in-person and virtual, hybrid, distance-learning program to support elementary science students and teachers. The STEM Specialist will oversee all aspects of the Grades 3-5 ISAAC (in-person) program and assist with development of the Grades 3-5 Virtual Lab (V-Lab) program.
Essential functions
- Leads the research and development of curriculum, instruction, assessment services, activities, and products related to Grades 3-5 STEM Program.
- Coordinate Grade 3-5 ISAAC Program with School and National Standards and align content and schedule with the school curriculum and pacing guides.
- Develop the Program schedule for the Academic Year.
- Develop a summer “camp” program with curriculum to support unique, distinctive lessons.
- Oversee the implementation of Program Measurement including student and teacher surveys.
- Manage and develop new content as needed that is consistent and meets the needs of our school partners.
- Identify and connect to Next Generation Science Standards and the New Jersey Learning Standards for Science.
- Manage materials library (videos, write- ups, lesson plans, supply lists and other documentation associated with the program).
- Manage and hire staff (instructors, assistants, interns, volunteers) needed to carry out the program.
- Act as an integral member of the Laboratory Management Team (LMT) reporting to the Chief Science Officer.
- Oversee summer and after school programing execution.
- Collaborate with ISAAC and V-Lab Directors on new content.
- Oversee Youth Protection Training and Laboratory Safety Training.
- Provide monthly reports and others on an as needed basis.
- Participate in grants administration and billing tracking on an as needed basis.
- Manage the Grades 3-5 program budget.
- Train and mentor staff.

Supervisory responsibilities
Potential supervisory responsibility for lab assistant and intern needed for the Grades 3-5 STEM Programming.
Physical demands
A significant amount of time is spent sitting and standing. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Good auditory and visual skills are required.
Required education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with certification in elementary education, science, or mathematics subject areas.
- Five (5) years of related professional experience
- At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an elementary classroom setting.
- Project management or curriculum development experience.
Preferred education and experience
- Master’s or doctoral degree in one or more STEM-related fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics).
- Experience in educational administration/supervision, curriculum development/writing, planning, and implementation.
- Three (3) years of successful experience in teaching science/math.
- SharePoint experience is a plus.
