Language Assessment Scientist

At Duolingo, we're on a mission to develop the best education in the world and make it universally available. We're looking for a talented Language Assessment Scientist to join our team and contribute to the development of our English Test.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with our research team to design and develop innovative language assessment instruments
  • Conduct studies to ensure the validity and efficacy of our English Test
  • Help develop responsible AI standards and practices
  • Disseminate research findings through technical reports, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed journals
Requirements:
  • PhD in language testing, applied linguistics, educational measurement, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in an education-related field (academia or industry)
  • Proficiency in R or Python for data analysis
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with large language models and machine learning technologies
  • Familiarity with standard language proficiency frameworks (CEFR preferred)
