Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic will utilize general construction knowledge and proven experience to successfully complete construction projects and maintenance tasks in a timely manner as assigned with minimum supervision and direction.

The mechanic will not only follow the direction of supervisors and managers, but also recognize tasks needed to be completed and reporting those to supervisors.

Effective communication and critical thinking skills are essential for this role. Drywall finishing experience is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase materials needed to complete team assignments.
  • Responsible for building materials for construction projects, materials for repair and maintenance projects, and specialty items needed for both construction and repairs and maintenance.
  • Prepare invoices and fuel receipts to be forwarded to Accounting by indicating to which department or project the invoice is to be assigned.
  • Work early or late to complete projects when unable to complete during business hours.
  • Work effectively with others during business hours to achieve project goals while minimizing effect on other team members and patients.
  • Complete tasks assigned in a timely manner, using time wisely to work more efficiently and maintaining the schedules set for projects.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working order, keeping up with personally assigned tools.
  • Provide preventative maintenance at all facilities, completing routine maintenance requests when assigned.
  • Perform duties such as reading blueprints and other drawings accurately, laying out walls accurately and true, hanging sheetrock, finishing sheetrock, laying out drop ceilings, laying flooring, hanging wallpaper, painting walls, doors, and trim, and performing minor electrical, plumbing, and woodworking duties.
  • Be willing to learn new skills to meet the needs of assigned duties.
Requirements

A high school graduate or GED is required. A clean driving record is also necessary.

Three years of professional experience in building maintenance or construction are required, with drywall finishing experience being highly desirable.
