Job Overview

General Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of various structures and equipment, utilizing practical skills and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts snow and ice removal from walkways during adverse weather conditions.
  • Installs and replaces electrical outlets, wiring, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Applies plaster or compound to repair minor imperfections in walls and ceilings.
  • Fixes or replaces sinks, water dispensers, and restroom fixtures.
  • Paints buildings and equipment as needed.
  • Repairs or replaces concrete surfaces, including floors, steps, and walkways.
  • Replaces damaged wall paneling and floor tiles.
  • Installs doors, locks, and replaces broken glass in windows.
  • Performs routine maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in maintenance within indoor or outdoor environments.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions from supervisors or other skilled workers.

Work Conditions

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders for extended periods.
  • May experience occasional exposure to environmental factors such as heat, cold, noise, dust, and chemicals, though not to an extreme degree. Minor safety risks may include cuts and bruises.
