The IT Helpdesk Intern role at YSI, a Xylem Brand, is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing end-user support and technical issue resolution. As a member of the IT team, you will be responsible for deploying personal computer hardware and software strategies consistent with business requirements, identifying and resolving hardware, software, and operator problems, and providing quality IT helpdesk support for all YSI Global infrastructure computing platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Active participation in the IT team with a focus on support and maintenance
  • Facilitation of a high-performance support/helpdesk organization to maintain a reliable IT infrastructure
  • Providing support to end-users relating to IT issues, including PCs, VoIP phone issues, printers, and multifunctional devices
  • Initial setup and configuration of desktops, workstations, and laptops
  • Performing installs, moves, adds, and changes for PCs, printers, and VoIP phones
  • Communicating and enforcing IT policies, procedures, and standards
  • Assisting with performing a hardware/software physical inventory
  • Daily administration of disk backup tape rotation and off-site storage
  • IT request process dissemination and follow-up

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for individuals currently enrolled in a post-secondary University diploma program in Information Systems or Computer Science
  • Experience in Helpdesk and/or customer service relations would be beneficial
  • Exposure to a Microsoft server environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Key attributes include support capabilities, innovative thinking and problem-solving, teamwork, self-motivation, reliability, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task, learn quickly, and be self-directed
  • Understanding of network/client-server environments
  • Working knowledge of personal computing hardware
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Robust problem-solving skills, self-direction, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Possess good time management and organizational skills
  • Able to explain technical terminology to non-technical end-users

Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 per year

Work Environment: The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will also have a strong understanding of IT concepts and be able to apply this knowledge in a real-world setting. This role requires a minimum of 20 hours per week (on-site) and is available to individuals who can commit to this schedule.
