Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Eligibility Specialist I to join our team at Cabarrus County, NC. As an Eligibility Specialist I, you will be responsible for determining and redetermining the eligibility of applicants and recipients for financial, medical, and food assistance programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview and gather information from applicants and recipients to determine eligibility for assistance programs.
  • Process and maintain case data in the appropriate county and state systems.
  • Enter and retrieve data from the NCFAST operating system.
  • Provide excellent customer service to applicants and recipients, responding to inquiries and providing information and assistance.
  • Compute and authorize amounts of assistance for programs.
  • Operate computer terminals, scanners, and other standard office equipment to maintain records and perform tasks.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited associate degree program or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish to speak, read, and write both languages with the same degree of fluency.
  • Experience in NC eligibility programs, including Food and Nutrition, Medicaid, Work First Family Assistance, and Child Care Subsidy.
  • Experience in NCFAST operating system and Northwoods (Compass Pilot and Appointments).
  • Experience working in a call center environment.
