Position Summary:
This role is responsible for the ongoing surveillance and safeguarding of the facility, staff, and residents. It involves assessing potential security incidents and proposing corrective measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise and mentor security personnel.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and evaluate security staff.
  • Ensure that security operations align with established protocols and procedures.
  • Coordinate training programs in compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate guidelines.
  • Conduct and document necessary security inspections of the facility promptly.
  • Oversee resident searches, headcounts, and substance tests as required.
  • Manage inmate transport logistics to various locations, including courts and medical facilities.
  • Supervise the inmate disciplinary process to ensure adherence to policies and standards.
  • Monitor daily activities to ensure compliance with the established schedule.
  • Perform routine inspections of all facility areas.
  • Review staffing levels to guarantee adequate coverage.
  • Investigate reports of staff misconduct and prepare written summaries for management.
  • Examine security reports for thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Inspect the facility daily for cleanliness and safety compliance.
  • Ensure weekly fire safety inspections and monthly evacuation drills are executed.
  • Act as Facility Director in their absence.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in corrections, criminal justice, human services, or a related field (may be waived for candidates with significant correctional or human services experience and supervisory skills).
  • At least two years of management and supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
  • Familiarity with community corrections systems and practices.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and experience with offenders is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operational manuals, and standard procedures.
  • Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet facility needs.
  • Proficient in using computers and relevant software.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet state insurance requirements.
