Job Summary

As a Transportation Security Officer with the Transportation Security Administration, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of air travelers, airports, and aircraft. Your duties will include operating various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects, conducting searches and screenings, and controlling terminal entry and exit points.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain various screening equipment and technology to identify and prevent the transportation of dangerous objects onto aircraft.
  • Conduct searches and screenings of passengers, baggage, and cargo to ensure compliance with security regulations.
  • Control terminal entry and exit points to prevent unauthorized access to secure areas.
  • Interact with the public, providing directions and responding to inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines.
Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship or national status.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Selective Service registration.
  • Pass a structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation.
  • Subject to post-employment random drug and/or alcohol testing.
  • Available to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension).
Working Conditions

As a Transportation Security Officer, you will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines. You will be exposed to potentially lethal devices and dangerous chemicals, and you must be able to maintain focus and awareness in a stressful environment.
