About the Role:

The Hartford HealthCare Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) is seeking an experienced E Cardiac Surgeon to take on the role of Director of Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Assist Devices. This position involves leading a dedicated team at Hartford Hospital, where expertise in Heart Transplantation is essential.

About the Institute:

The HHC Heart and Vascular Institute is recognized nationally for its excellence in cardiovascular care, utilizing cutting-edge technology and a compassionate team of healthcare professionals committed to combating heart disease.

Our commitment to quality is evident through our Cardiovascular Data Management Center, which enables us to continuously improve patient outcomes by benchmarking against state and national standards.

Hartford Hospital has achieved remarkable accolades, including a perfect score for cardiac surgery from the Society for Thoracic Surgeons, distinguishing it as one of the few hospitals nationwide to receive such recognition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a well-established heart failure program, encompassing transplant, VADs, and ECMO.
  • Manage a robust valve surgery program, including aortic replacement, TAVR, and minimally invasive techniques.
  • Utilize 40 operating rooms, including 4 dedicated to cardiac surgery, and state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Engage in over 1,500 open heart procedures annually.
  • Facilitate referrals from HHC's network of affiliated hospitals.
  • Contribute to academic and research initiatives in collaboration with the University of Connecticut.
  • Lead a team of dedicated Cardiac Intensivists and Advanced Practitioners in Critical Care.
  • Participate in the nationally recognized Center for Education, Simulation Innovation (CESI).
  • Support professional development through the HHC Provider Leadership Development Institute and the Office of Provider Wellness.
