About the Diesel Mechanic Position

As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student Shared Services, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. Your expertise will be essential in providing guidance to lower-level technicians and ensuring that our fleet is in top condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately and efficiently, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Assist with mobile emergency services and provide support to other maintenance teams as needed.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license is required; willingness to obtain a CDL while employed is a plus.
  • At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education is preferred.
  • Possession of a mechanic's tool set is essential.
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification programs and receive training, testing, and bonuses is a must.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical, as per regulatory requirements.
