">Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals with complex needs, such as homelessness, substance use disorders, and serious mental illness, achieve their highest potential for health and well-being through comprehensive services, treatment, and housing.
">About the Role
">We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Case Manager to join our team. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide crisis intervention services at a residential treatment facility, assisting clients in creating and implementing personalized disposition plans, facilitating group and individual counseling, and working collaboratively with other clinical staff to ensure integrated services.
">Key Responsibilities

- Participate in a multi-disciplinary team providing ongoing case management services to adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses and/or chemical dependency issues">
- Provide phone screenings for referrals to the CSC and engage clients admitted to the facility, maintaining working relationships through creative and resourceful strategies that build trust and confidence">
- Assist in creating and implementing discharge plans, developing goal planners with client participation, and facilitating linkages to collaborative resources when appropriate">
- Coordinate all aspects of client support and goal planners, including psychiatric treatment, substance abuse treatment, 24-hour support services, and acute case management to facilitate access to food, clothing, housing, medical care, financial assistance, and vocational training or employment">
- Advocate for clients' access to community resources and services, ensuring their needs are met and rights maintained, consulting and collaborating with community providers to ensure continuity of care">
- Participate in planning, organizing, and facilitating group treatment services for clients served by the mental health program">
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment, tolerating unusual or unpleasant behavior">
- Document services provided">
Requirements
">To be successful in this role, you must have a relevant Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related behavioral science, or a combination of 1 year of relevant paid work experience and demonstration of the ability to perform required job duties. You should also be able to meet Washington Department of Health requirements for registration as a Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) or any other superseding credential.
">Preferred Qualifications
">We welcome applicants who are eligible for a Licensed AAC credential or any other superseding credential that meets RCW 71.05.020 requirements to act as a Mental Health Professional whose scope of practice includes independently conducting mental health assessments and making mental health diagnoses. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, bicultural background/experience, and knowledge of de-escalation skills, crisis intervention & stabilization, and harm reduction strategies are also highly desirable.
">Salary and Benefits
">The estimated salary for this role is $52,000-$62,000 per year, depending on experience. DESC offers a range of benefits, including dental, life, long-term disability, medical insurance with no premiums/payroll deductions for employee coverage, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), ORCA card subsidy, Paid Time Off (34 days per year), and a Retirement Plan.
