Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant specializing in Fixed Assets and Capital Project Management is integral to overseeing and accounting for the organization’s fixed assets and capital expenditures. This role is essential for ensuring accurate recording, tracking, and reporting of fixed assets and capital project costs, thereby facilitating compliance with accounting standards and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fixed Asset Oversight:
    • Maintain a detailed register of fixed assets, documenting acquisition details, depreciation, disposals, and impairments utilizing the NetSuite Fixed Asset Module.
    • Assist in establishing an asset tagging and tracking system.
    • Conduct regular physical inventories of fixed assets and reconcile with accounting records.
    • Evaluate the useful life of assets and determine impairment when necessary.
  • Capital Project Financial Management:
    • Support the capitalization of project costs in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
    • Work collaboratively with project managers to develop and oversee project budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
    • Monitor and analyze project costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, against budgeted figures.
    • Prepare and review financial reports related to projects, offering insights into cost variances and suggesting corrective measures as needed.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Compile fixed asset and project-related schedules and disclosures for both internal and external reporting.
    • Facilitate the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding fixed assets and capital expenditures.
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and accounting standards governing fixed asset management and project cost capitalization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in fixed asset and capital project accounting.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail and precision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations related to fixed assets is advantageous but not mandatory.
