Position Summary: The Elder Protective Services Specialist is responsible for assessing and investigating cases related to Protective Services. This role involves evaluating reports, determining client risk levels, providing crisis intervention, advocacy, and monitoring cases to address urgent issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate assigned Protective Services reports under the guidance of the Protective Services Supervisor.
  • Conduct field assessments to evaluate the physical, social, emotional, and environmental conditions of older adults to ascertain their needs and eligibility.
  • Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and case management services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and client records, including database management, as required by the Protective Services Supervisor and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and sustain ongoing service plans to facilitate the resolution of Protective Services cases.
  • Access necessary mental health, medical, and legal resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with case management staff for clinical consultation when appropriate.
  • Assist in community education initiatives as directed by the Protective Services Supervisor.
  • Utilize the court system when necessary, in accordance with relevant laws and mandates.
  • Provide coverage and support for the Protective Services team, including participation in after-hours on-call duties as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Protective Services Supervisor.

Qualifications: A Master's degree or higher in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, along with at least one year of experience in counseling, casework, or case management, preferably in a Protective Services or crisis intervention setting. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the aforementioned fields with a minimum of two years of relevant experience may be considered. LSW eligibility within 2.5 years of hire is required. Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. Proficiency with computers is necessary, and bilingual capabilities are preferred but not mandatory.


Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
