Job Summary

The Psychosocial Clinician II is a key member of an interdisciplinary team who provides direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention to members and/or family members. The primary focus of this role is direct patient care.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct timely and accurate assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning for members.
  • Provide evidence-based treatment to adults, adolescents, and children.
  • Select and implement appropriate treatment modalities to address member needs.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in various treatment methodologies.
  • Effectively communicate clinical information to members and clinical staff to ensure high-quality care.
  • Document clinical encounters accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct initial interviews with members to gather and interpret psychological and social information.
  • Determine the urgency of member needs and provide timely interventions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and guidance to members in need of immediate support.
  • Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and prepare reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with social agencies, schools, and community resources to support member well-being.
  • Provide telephone assessments, counseling, and resource information to members.
  • Stay up-to-date on Kaiser Permanente and community resources.
  • Develop proficiency in treating various developmental stages and implementing multiple treatment modalities.
  • Comply with organizational, departmental, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Adhere to mandated guidelines for patient care and licensure requirements.
  • Maintain licensure and participate in quality improvement activities.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience
    • Two years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five years required.
  • Education
    • Masters degree in a Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other field related to behavioral health required.
  • License, Certification, Registration
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California)
Additional Requirements
  • Knowledge of current DSM nomenclature and ability to utilize it required.
  • Consistently demonstrate knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to members, customers, and staff.
  • Familiarity with psychopathology and ability to recognize timely clinical treatment interventions required.
  • Expertise in various treatment modalities and ability to select and implement appropriate interventions.
