Cardiac Rhythm Monitor Technician

As a Cardiac Rhythm Monitor Technician at Firelands Health, you will be responsible for monitoring patient cardiac rhythms, obtaining and accurately analyzing rhythm strips on telemetry patients, and notifying nursing of all changes. You will also assist with maintaining the medical record of the patient, including printing and analyzing rhythm strips, and alerting nursing personnel of rhythm changes or new occurrences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor patient cardiac rhythms and obtain and analyze rhythm strips on telemetry patients
- Notify nursing of all changes and assist with maintaining the medical record of the patient
- Print and analyze rhythm strips and place in patient's chart each shift
- Alert nursing personnel of rhythm changes or new occurrences
- Accountable for alarm limit settings on the monitors
- Follow policies for placing telemetry leads on patients and troubleshoot any telemetry problems
- Perform clerical duties related to admission and discharge of patients
- Answer telephone and intercom, take messages and communicate information to appropriate person
- Call and follow-up with consultants
- Assist visitors on the nursing units
- Assist with staff/patient education
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Paramedic-certified applicant highly preferred
- Basic EKG course and experience with cardiac monitor interpretation including knowledge of paced rhythms or basic and advanced EKG courses
- ACLS preferred
- Must have medical terminology
- Computer experience required
