Role Overview

As an Instructor for Information Technology Fundamentals, you will leverage your enthusiasm and expertise to educate students in essential areas of computer science, networking, and cybersecurity. Your instruction will help students cultivate foundational computer skills while exploring various pathways within our technology programs. Topics covered may include file management, command line operations, networking principles, cloud technologies, hardware fundamentals, data organization, introductory robotics, basic programming, problem-solving techniques, and web development basics. You will demonstrate a commitment to student achievement through equitable teaching practices and a vision for a dynamic Information Technology curriculum that aligns with industry demands. This part-time role involves teaching responsibilities in both daytime and evening classes, with potential for web-enhanced, online, or hybrid course formats.

  • Assess student progress through thoughtfully designed assignments, projects, and evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate student records and documentation as required.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Experience in leadership or participation in programs serving diverse populations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least two years of relevant experience in the information technology sector.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, HTML, Python, or C#.
  • Ability to create engaging learning experiences that respect cultural differences.
  • Experience working effectively with adult learners.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Attention to detail and experience managing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to represent the college positively and professionally.
  • Proficiency in a language other than English is preferred, particularly in languages prevalent in the RTC service area.
Special Requirements
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ and/or Security+ certification is preferred.
Working Conditions
This position involves active engagement in a classroom setting, requiring standing and demonstrating processes, alongside some administrative duties.

Employment Terms
This adjunct faculty position is contracted on a quarterly basis, with compensation structured per credit hour taught.
