Position Summary:

The Chef/Cook is responsible for preparing gourmet foods for our fine dining experience, using institutional kitchen equipment and quantity food preparation techniques. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares meals in accordance with approved recipes and ensures that food is fresh, of high quality, and prepared under sanitary conditions.
  • Ensures that food is prepared and stored according to HACCP standards, and completes cooling charts as required.
  • Follows production sheets for amounts to produce, utilizing proper products and recording any leftovers.
  • Records temperatures before and during meal service, and makes necessary corrections if standards are not met.
  • Demonstrates proper handwashing and glove usage to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Records refrigerator and freezer temperatures twice a day on the log, and reports to the supervisor if temperatures are not in the correct range.
  • Labels all items with use by dates, including dry storage, leftovers, and food in process.
  • Prepares and sends accurate meals as ordered within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Maintains a clean as you go environment, completes daily cleaning assignments, and cleans equipment after each use.
  • Works with servers and wait staff to ensure great meal service and full understanding of menu items.
  • Attends department meetings and in-services as scheduled.
  • Completes job duties within eight hours, with approval needed for overtime.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED
  • Five years restaurant experience and/or culinary training desirable
  • Experience organizing workloads and meeting time deadlines

Physical Qualifications:

  • Lift 50#, stand for long periods on hard surfaces, walk long distances, and able to bend, reach, and grasp objects
  • Push carts up to 100#
  • Experience operating equipment safely and demonstrate knife safety at all times

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Be prepared for mandatory physicals, drug tests, and background checks as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment

Preferred:

  • Serve Safe Certified
  • Culinary Degree Preferred

Work Schedule:

Full-Time, flexible to start either 11:00AM - 7:30PM or 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM
