Accounts Receivable and Sales Tax Associate

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable and Sales Tax associate to join our finance team at Maxwood Furniture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts receivable activities and oversee sales tax compliance via our Avalara sales tax platform.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare sales invoices and reconcile customer accounts.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of customer payments, including cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
- Monitor and analyze customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities.
- Manage customer relationships and resolve billing and payment disputes.
- Prepare and review accounts receivable aging reports and recommend actions for overdue accounts.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records related to accounts receivable.
Sales Tax:
- Ensure compliance with state and local sales tax regulations.
- Monitor changes in sales tax laws and update processes and systems accordingly.
- Review Avalara sales tax reports and work with external auditors during tax audits.
- Maintain accurate sales tax records and documentation.
General Ledger:
- Assist with month-end closing processes.
- Daily bank and cash balancing, including posting related journal entries.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in accounts receivable and sales tax management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/accounting software, Great Plains and Avalara is a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of sales tax regulations and compliance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
