An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a seasoned Senior Project Operations Leader within our Northern Virginia/DC district. With the remarkable growth we have achieved in this market, you will collaborate closely with executive management to oversee all active projects and ensure ongoing success in our endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise multiple projects, teams, and initiatives across the division.
  • Provide technical and leadership guidance for project bids and during construction phases, working in tandem with estimating teams, bid review committees, and project construction personnel.
  • Conduct regular assessments of proposed project plans to guarantee adherence to contract cost estimates, production objectives, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure accurate personnel assignments for all projects and proactively address recruitment needs for upcoming projects.
  • Review weekly and monthly project status and financial reports, ensuring precision, identifying discrepancies, and implementing training and corrective action plans as necessary.
  • Manage and/or assist with owner and regulatory relations, presentations, and change order requests as required.
  • Engage in the selection and execution of contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Oversee and/or audit project cost controls, budgets, invoicing, estimates, and forecasting, providing insights to upper management regarding district project operations and status.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction is essential.
  • 12+ years of experience managing construction teams is required.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is advantageous.
  • Extensive hands-on experience and expert knowledge in managing complex large-scale heavy civil/highway projects, including means and methods, as well as business and financial risk management.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to set clear expectations for direct reports and relevant stakeholders, holding personnel and third-party participants accountable for their deliverables.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to foster internal talent development and mentorship across various project types and locations.
  • Proficient in multitasking and prioritization to provide technical guidance on scheduling, production, construction challenges, and owner relationship management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to manage the claims process and negotiate with owners regarding project-related issues.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple teams from diverse functions towards a unified goal.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
