POSITION SUMMARY

The Laboratory Support Technician at Euro Foods Inc DBA Citterio USA plays a crucial role in assisting with the preparation of samples for microbiological testing, specifically focusing on Listeria and Salmonella, to uphold the safety and quality standards of our food products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather and prepare samples from various phases of the meat processing workflow for microbiological analysis.
  • Assist in the execution and oversight of production timelines to fulfill customer demands and organizational goals.
  • Support the laboratory technician and management with routine laboratory operations, including sample tagging, record-keeping, and data management.
  • Ensure all laboratory instruments are thoroughly cleaned, serviced, and calibrated in accordance with established protocols.
  • Adhere to stringent safety and sanitation guidelines to avert contamination and guarantee precise testing outcomes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all sample preparations and analytical results, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Oversee and manage the inventory of laboratory materials and reagents, alerting management of any deficiencies.
  • Collaborate closely with production and quality assurance teams to ensure prompt and effective sample collection and analysis.
  • Foster and uphold a safety-first culture within the workplace.
  • Comply with all pertinent health and safety regulations, including OSHA and USDA guidelines.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effectively engaging with a diverse workforce.
  • Exhibit consistent attendance and reliability.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Engage in related tasks as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fundamental knowledge of microbiology and food safety practices.

  • Effective communication skills with the capacity to follow both written and verbal directives.
  • Proficiency in basic computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).

  • Ability to operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to articulate information clearly and understandably.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent; and,
  • Prior experience in a laboratory or food production setting is advantageous.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and perform physical activities such as climbing, kneeling, or crawling.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
